FlockNote is how Washington DC Cursillo keeps in touch with our community — it’s the main way we send messages: Ultreya and meeting reminders, links for online meetings, and other Cursillo news, by email and by text. Anyone can join our FlockNote network, whether or not you’ve made a Cursillo Weekend. This page walks you through signing up, keeping your information current, and joining the groups that are open to everyone.

Signing Up — Anyone Can Join the Network
You don’t need an invitation, and you don’t need to have made a Cursillo Weekend, to join Washington DC Cursillo on FlockNote. Anyone is welcome to sign up.
FlockNote gives every organization its own web address. Ours is washingtondccursillo.flocknote.com (opens in new tab).
- Go to washingtondccursillo.flocknote.com (opens in new tab) and click the Sign Me Up button.
- Enter your name and either your email address or your mobile number. If you don’t text, that’s fine — just enter your name and email.
- You’ll see a list of our groups. Click a group to join it; a green check mark shows it worked.
- When you’ve picked your groups, click the green NEXT button. That’s it — no password and no app to download.
Two things to know about that list of groups: a padlock icon means the group is closed, so one of our administrators has to approve you before you start receiving its messages. A group with no icon is open, so you join it right away.
There’s no cost to join or to receive messages. FlockNote reaches you by email and text, so there’s nothing to install; if you’d like quick access from your phone, you can simply bookmark the sign-up page in your phone’s browser.
FlockNote also offers a feature called Text-to-Join, which lets people join by texting a keyword instead of visiting a website. We haven’t set this up for our network yet — if we do, we’ll publish the exact number and keyword right here.
Which groups can I join? Three of our groups are open to everyone: Prayer Request, the 4th Day Committee, and the Communications Committee. Click any of them during sign-up and you’re in right away, with no approval needed — see “Joining the Prayer Request Group” below for the steps, which work the same way for all three. Our Cursillistas group, which is how we send the Fourth Day News, is reserved for people who have completed a Cursillo Weekend; if that’s you, use the sign-up form on our Publications page to be added to it. And you don’t need to join FlockNote at all just to read the newsletter — every issue, current and past, is posted for everyone on the Publications page.

Updating Your Email, Phone, or Preferences
You never need to create a password just to update your information. The simplest way is to open any FlockNote email you’ve received and click the my info link at the bottom of it. The first time you do this, FlockNote will email or text you a one-time link or code; just use it, and you’ll be taken straight to your profile. After that, your device is remembered, so future visits go straight through.
You can also go directly to login.flocknote.com (opens in new tab) and enter the email address or mobile number you signed up with. FlockNote will send you a one-time code by email or text — there’s no password to remember. That code expires after five minutes, so if it’s been a while, just ask for a new one. Once you’re logged in on a device, it stays logged in until you sign out, restart your computer, or clear your browser’s cookies.
From your profile, hover over your email address or phone number, click the small pencil icon, make your change, and click Save. Your profile also has a Groups tab, where you can turn each group’s email and text notifications on or off, or join another group.
To stop texts from a particular group, reply STOP to one of its texts. To stop emails from a group, click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of its emails. If you change your mind later, or run into any trouble, our Communications team is glad to help.

Joining the Prayer Request Group
Our Prayer Request group is open to everyone, whether or not you’ve made a Cursillo Weekend. It’s where we share prayer intentions with the wider community.
If you’re signing up for FlockNote for the first time, simply click Prayer Request on the list of groups during sign-up. Since it’s an open group (no padlock icon), you’ll join it immediately — no approval needed.
If you’re already a FlockNote member, log in first (see “Updating Your Email, Phone, or Preferences” above), open your profile’s Groups tab, and look for a button to join another group. Choose Prayer Request the same way; since there’s no padlock on it, you’re in right away.

Keeping FlockNote Out of Your Spam Folder
All of our FlockNote emails come from mail@flocknote.com. Adding that address to your contacts, or marking it as a safe sender, is the best way to make sure our emails reach your inbox instead of your spam or junk folder.
- Gmail: Click the gear icon, then See all settings, then the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab. Click Create a new filter, enter mail@flocknote.com in the From field, click Create filter, check Never send it to Spam, then click Create filter again.
- Outlook or Hotmail: Click New contact on the toolbar, enter mail@flocknote.com, and click Create. Or, open one of our emails, click on the sender’s name, choose the “more” menu on their profile card, and select Add to contacts.
- Yahoo: Open one of our emails, click More, then Add Sender to Contacts, enter “FlockNote” as the first name, and click Save.
- AOL: Click Contacts in the left panel, then New Contact, enter mail@flocknote.com, and click Add Contact.
- Comcast/Xfinity: Click the gear icon, then Email Settings, then Advanced Settings, turn on Use email safe list, click Add an email address, enter mail@flocknote.com, and click Add.
If your email provider isn’t listed here, or these steps don’t work for you, email help@flocknote.com and FlockNote’s own support team can help. If you find one of our emails has already landed in your junk or spam folder, open it and mark it “not spam” or “not junk” — that also helps future emails get through.
If you signed yourself up (rather than being added by one of our administrators), FlockNote sent you a verification email, and it won’t deliver notes to you until that address is verified. If you think this might be why you’re not receiving emails, log in and look for a Send opt-in email link under your email address, or email help@flocknote.com for help.

For Note Senders
If you send Ultreya reminders, meeting links, or other messages for a group, you’re what FlockNote calls a Note Sender. Every email or text sent through FlockNote is called a “Note,” and it can go out to one group, several groups, or a handful of individual people.
Once you’re logged in, look for the Send an Email (envelope) or Send a Text Message (phone) button. If you don’t see them, you likely need to be made an administrator of your group first — our Communications team can help with that.
A few tips that make sending easier:
- Before you send, use the Preview button to see how your Note will look on both a computer and a phone screen. You can still change comments, scheduling, or delivery settings from there.
- To see exactly what your Note will look like in an inbox, open your draft, click the options icon in the bottom right, and choose Send a test note — a copy will go to your own email address.
- To send a Note later rather than right away, use the Schedule option in the composer: tick the scheduling box, choose a date and time, click Preview, then confirm with Schedule It.
FlockNote’s own help center has step-by-step guides for the email composer, the text composer, and scheduling — the links below are the best place to start.
