The Cursillo Weekend is a beginning, not an end. The three-day experience is designed to launch a lifelong journey of Christian friendship and action — what Cursillo calls the Fourth Day. Here is how that journey continues.
Group Reunions
After the weekend, participants are encouraged to form or join a small friendship group (Group Reunion) of three to seven people who meet regularly — usually weekly — to share how they are living out piety, study, and action in their daily lives. These groups are the foundation of Cursillo community life. They keep members accountable to their Christian commitments and provide a place of honest, prayerful support.
Ultreya
An Ultreya (from the Latin ultra, meaning “onward and upward”) is a gathering of several Group Reunions. Washington DC Cursillo has multiple Ultreyas meeting throughout the DC metro area each month. At an Ultreya, a group shares a witness talk, the community prays together, and members encourage one another to keep living the Cursillo ideal. See the Ultreya meeting schedule or check the calendar for upcoming dates.
School of Leaders
The School of Leaders is a monthly formation meeting open to all Cursillistas. It provides deeper study of Cursillo method and Christian leadership, helping members grow in their understanding of how to bring others to Christ in their environments. Recordings of past School of Leaders sessions are available on the School of Leaders page.
Sponsoring Someone
One of the most powerful ways to live the Fourth Day is to sponsor a friend, family member, or co-worker for a Cursillo Weekend. As a sponsor, you walk alongside the candidate through the application process, pray for them during the weekend, and welcome them into the community afterward. Sponsoring deepens your own faith while bringing someone you care about closer to Christ. Contact the Pre-Cursillo Committee or reach out to us to learn more about sponsoring.
Staying Connected
The Washington DC Cursillo community gathers for events throughout the year, including Grand Ultreyas, fundraisers, and special celebrations. Check the calendar and the events page to stay informed. You can also follow us on social media for news and inspiration between gatherings.
