Washington DC Cursillo gathers all year round — monthly Ultreyas across the region, School of Leaders formation, community celebrations and fundraisers, and the Cursillo Weekends themselves. This page is a guide to what those gatherings are; the dates are in the list below and on the calendar.

Ultreyas
An Ultreya — from the Spanish for “onwards” — is a monthly gathering where Cursillistas share a witness talk, pray together, and encourage one another to keep living the Cursillo ideal. Groups meet in Calvert County, Laurel, Montgomery County, NE/SE Washington DC, and at St. Teresa of Avila; some meet in person, some are hybrid, and the NE/SE group meets over Zoom. All are welcome to attend. See locations, meeting times and contacts.
Grand Ultreya
From time to time the separate Ultreyas come together for a Grand Ultreya — a community-wide celebration with Mass, witness talks and singing. In August 2026 the community gathered to celebrate Bishop Gary. Photos and highlights from recent gatherings.
Cursillo Weekends
The Cursillo Weekend is the three-day experience at the heart of the movement, running Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon. Men’s and women’s weekends are held separately. Upcoming dates, retreat locations and how to apply.
School of Leaders
The School of Leaders is a monthly formation meeting open to all Cursillistas, going deeper into the Cursillo method and Christian leadership. Recordings of past sessions are posted on the School of Leaders page.
Fundraisers and Community Events
The community also gathers through the year for fundraisers, memorial Masses, cookouts and other celebrations — recent ones have included the Spring Fling Fundraiser and a memorial cookout hosted by the NE/SE Ultreya. These are announced in the Fourth Day News and appear on the calendar as they are scheduled.
